I don't mind either, but I find squat toilets to be more hygienic, especially when shared between people (especially in the case of public toilets), than normal seated toilets. I'll be honest, I've never used a squat toilet with my pants still hanging over my lap. It's much easier this way, and you don't have to worry about trying to keep your pants/boxers from getting dirty or wet. :)So you squat with your behind facing the wider side of the toilet opening (don't try to sit the other way around, lest you risk doing a mess, for obvious reasons).
